At Unleashed PAwS, we believe meaningful connections can change lives. Through safe, supportive, evidence-based animal-assisted interactions, our volunteers help people feel seen, valued, and less alone. We are building something special in Yuba-Sutter: a community-based nonprofit focused on bringing pet-assisted support to places that need it most.

We know healing is not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it looks like a quiet visit. Sometimes it looks like a smile, a conversation, or a wagging tail that helps someone feel safe enough to breathe a little easier. At Unleashed PAwS, volunteering is also a form of shared healing. The people we serve are impacted, and so are the people who show up to serve.
Why It Matters Here
While neighboring regions have access to similar services, Yuba-Sutter does not yet have a dedicated animal-assisted therapy program. That means schools, libraries, hospitals, senior centers, hospices, shelters, and trauma support programs in our community are missing out on support that can improve quality of life in real and meaningful ways. Unleashed PAwS exists to help close that gap.
Ways To Get Involved
Volunteer opportunities may include:
- Joining a pet-assisted support team
- Supporting community outreach and events
- Helping with administrative and behind-the-scenes needs
- Assisting with scheduling, coordination, and volunteer support
- Spreading awareness and helping us build community partnerships
